Like many non-profits in this turbulent economic climate we at Joyful are feeling the effects, donations are declining and need is rising. We estimate that twenty percent of our kids are living in families that are food insecure, what this means is that the after-school snack we provide is even more important than ever. For some of our kids, there is very little food when they leave in the evening.
We understand that with so much need in the community that everyone is spread thin, so we are looking for angels to assist in providing healthy and nutritious snacks for the kids at Joyful. A typical snack includes a fruit, vegetable and a healthy carb, we are looking for angels to provide staple items.
To be an angel all you have to do is commit to buying one staple item when you do your own grocery shopping and drop it off at the center or arrange for a pick-up. Staples that we always need include milk, peanut butter, ranch dressing, paper towels as well as fruits and vegetables. With enough angels it allows us to better serve the kids without making further program cuts and takes the pressure off any one or two individuals.
